Fishing Tonight

Well i got a pass for fishing tonight, so I am gonna hit Folkestone pier again. H/W is at 1:30am (6.6) so will start at about 8pm if anyone is interested.

Now just to try and work out a way of avoiding the thousand whiting that I usually catch 6/0 hooks???7/0hooks lol

I would be happy to catch a dogfish at the rate!!!! Bloody whiting have been in plague ammounts recently and its so annoying to load up 5 lug n squid onto a pennel just to have to strip it all off 3 minutes later cos a piddly arse whiting has jumped on the hook!!!! May have a crack at using whole squid and 6/0 hooks to see if that will keep them off!!

That wont keep the whiting at bay,but it might attract a big cod that will try and nail the whiting around the bait ,so if your lucky a lunker awaits .....

Ive been getting whiting lately on whole dirty squid so don't kid yourself mate
Livebaiting as suggested might just nail you a big bass or nodding cod

Yeah I may just try that, would you just use a pennel rig but back to front for livebaiting? i.e 1/0 on the front with a 7/0 backing it up? or should I tie a smaller hook to the front via a short snood?

just use a single 5 or 6/0 hook and put it up through the top of the mouth . whiting and pout will swim about for hours like that mate.
use a portland rig and a hook length of 3 or 4 foot so that the bait can swim about freely.
i also use a plain 4 or 5 ounce bomb just to stop the bugger swimming off

Will a livebait survive a cast off a pier? I would have thought that it would die on impact?
