Hythe last night...The usual suspects!!

Went fishing at the boats at Hythe last night and met up with Billybass on the beach. I brough along Noel, Noels missus and young Jake so we had 4 rods out with black Lug, Makeral, Herring and squid baits. Me and Noel were running 4/0 Pennel Pulleys and the other two had Flapper rigs on, the conditions looked perfect for codling but no sooner did the baits hit the water either a whiting or a doggie jumped straight on so the codling wouldn`t have had a chance , All in all recon we must have had a dozen dogs and loads of small whiting. Billybass strangely enough only had the 1 whiting and the rest of his night was dogs too.

Oh well back again next weekend, got 50 black lug left over in the freezer. Im thinking either fishing Dover addy or Seabrook beach, over the rough stuff Only a small neap tide so will have to keep an eye on the weather and see what happens.

with the weather being as crappy as it is i think you did well to get a session in Joe..
There seems to be a shortage of small pout around everywhere so maybe the cuttlefish have reached epidemic proportions and the only thing left is bigger whiting and the good old doggies.

I know what you mean about the shortage of pouts this yr mate, i recon i must have had 3 all year long!!!! inprevious years its been more like 30 a trip lol.

Weather hasn`t been to bad here the last few days, been a brisk south westerly blowing up the enlish channel so the codies should be here, I was told that a fella down the beach earlier in the day had a 3lb bass as well but i managed my usual bag of doggies again!!! Gets quite irritating after a while! I miss cast and reeled in almost imidiately and found 1 hanging of the end. Oh well shouldn`t complain, it`s a fish I guess. Plenty of time to get some cod still although I don`t think the wife will be seeing much of me untill I do lol

My apologies birtybass lol , I thought I had a big fat cod on but it was that seaweed tree, must have weighed 20lb lol. Good to meet up again mate, will let ya know about next weekend
