Samphire Hoe to Folkstone

Hi guys just a quick one

Does anyone know if you can get down onto the beach at samphire hoe and safely make your way back towards Folkstone Warren????

There is a spot called the Black wall that I want to fish at again but it`s a bloody long walk from the Campsite at the warren, i was just thinking it is probably much quicker from the hoe. Also I am planning it to be an overnight stop so am curious to know if they will let me leave my car parked down there all night.

Any info greatly appreciated

Joe

Re: Samphire Hoe to Folkstone

Hi Joe,
You can but not right at high water, it cuts off in a couple of places. There is a large fall between the hoe and warren I think it cuts off each side of that. I have walked it a couple of times, its not very dangerous the fall is so large you can wait for the tide. It doesn’t cut off for long and it might only be on the highest tides. I Have had to wait before but its so long ago I cant remember for sure if it was there. I have walked it a few times safely enough anyway.
All the best.
Jason

Will you be spinning for Bass down there?
I hope to get out along the cliffs with some lures this leave. I caught a Bass on a lure last time home and want to get in to that side of things now. Good luck, let us know how it goes. J

Re: Samphire Hoe to Folkstone

I just looked on google maps and if the black wall is under the caravan site at Caple the large fall I was thinking of is next to that and it cuts off at the Dover side, that’s where I remember waiting. The walk along the beach might be slightly shorter but it will be hard going over the pebbles and rocks compared with the flat concrete at the warren.

Re: Samphire Hoe to Folkstone

The black wall is the last section of concrete before the beach, where the sand patch is. There is a 50 yard stretch on the end of the wall where the new sea defenses dont meet up to the wall, if you look from wear bay road at folkstone the sea wall looks black from afar, hence it`s name

I was told about this a long time ago and not a lot of people actually know exactly where the mark is, it`s got a really good reputation for chucking out large bass (15lb+), also if you head down there at low tide on a big spring (7.2+) then you can dig loads of sandeel from the shore line. I saw a bloke fill a bucket of them, they were literally a few inches under the sand!!!!!
