Warren 3-4-11

Well went to the Warren at Folkstone with my bro-li-law last night and had a enjoyable nights fishing. We were the only people down there fishing and Adam having never caught anything bigger than a pin whiting was looking forward to catching something a bit bigger.

First things first I gave him a safety talk as on the apron in the dark there is a good chance you can break your ankle in the cracks and gaps in the concreete floor, it`s also a slippery as hell near the waters edge so if you trip and go for a swim you are instantly in 15-20ft of water(if the tides in, if not you get to smash your head on the sharp steps that lead down to the water)

We both got set up and were in the water by 21.00, with high water at 00.20 and a light S/W blowing conditions were ideal.

We were then kept busy throughout the night with lots of small dogfish and adam had a Edibal crab which I personaly have never seen of the beach!!

As soon as high water had passed it all went quiet and we stayed till about 2am.

All in all a enjoyable evening out and even better was that it didn`t cost a penny as I was using salted down lug, manky old black lug and a old box of squid I had left over from winter. Will get down there again soon I think, will take some sandeel and see if I can get some bigger ones, I know Adam thoroughly enjoyed this trip, often hearing him comment on how it`s a lot more fun than just catching whiting and also how the doggies were trying to bite him when he was unhooking them lol

1 thing I must remember next time is my wellys though!!!! Trainers and water don`t mix to well

Tight lines all

Joe

Nice evenings fishing Joe ... , good to see the salty lug is a killer bait for the doggies too.

Re: Warren 3-4-11

Ok J, thats a shame, however it certainly wont be the last trip I make this year. If you get a night free for fishing then gimme a shout and I`ll see if I can make it. If we fish Folkstone/Dover area then I don`t mind picking you up en route if you need some transport.

Offer open to others, if they wanna meet up to wet a line?

Joe
