| Re: Fishing in Gillingham Well managed to fish for a few hours with my missus, little boy and auzzy mate. Fished the last hour of the flood plus high water and a little bit back down. I must say i was amazed at how well presented my salted down, week old lug was, went on the hook perfect and once dipped in water, swelled back to original size!!! Cheers MRG I was well chuffed with the new rod as well, and my auzzy mate had a go on my old conoflex rod thats just been returned to me after 8+ yrs, tide wasn`t to bad so used 5oz leads and with little effort managed to get a 2 hook flapper right into the center of the river which was where the fish were feeding as managed a small flounder and a larger one which i recon was about 1lb. Darren didn`t have as much luck as me (even tho we had same bait, rigs) and only managed a small carpet fish ![]() . Great little spot though, there was a kiddies park behind us where my missus and the little one played. There was a pub within sight, shops 5 min walk away and parking right next to where you fish. Be great place to take young ones fishing as there is no gaps down to the water so perfectly safe for first time anglers. Plus plenty of space to cast and never overcrowded. Well i recon i`ve still got 2 score of salties left so im off to take them out of the pot and put them in the freezer. Amazing i can how get 3 trips out of blow lug!!!!![]() ![]() Tight Lines. | Re: Fishing in Gillingham No mate i decided against gillingham pier as i figured at half term it would be full of kids, and there is only enough room for a few people along there. It`s not even a pier either lol (look at my album and its the spot where i`ve got my blue car parked behind me). If i were you i wouldn`t bother with Gillingham pier unless it`s a weekday night or something cos there is never any room. I do know it`s also free to fish there tho. I usually fish at Lazer quay which is in the medway city estate, you can fish out of a big carpark there, straight out the car with plenty of room and catch the same as round gillingham . __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!! |
