Re: new rods

Hi kev, how big are both rods mate 10 feet 11 feet etc, and as far as im aware breakaway grippers oval and none gripper flat leads start from 3oz - 6oz i might be wrong, i use 3-6oz for all my fishing. Dont think that a cheap rod wont catch kev it will. Its were you fish, the right time and good quality bait that catch. The reel is only to hold the line and the rod to put it in the water and off the beach a cheap beach caster 2 years ago landed a 10lb bass cost £60 and that included the reel. Get back to me on how big rods are.

Re: new rods

Sorry mick lol. Graham i have a video of a young kid landing a salmon @ 7lb on such a rod with a spinner from way back in our club river, so i wouldnt use them for the beach. They would be great fun for your kids spinning for mackerel, great fun on light tackle. I got same rod when i was 10 years old, it put a huge smile on my face, didnt catch anything on it though. Once they catch there 1st fish, and they like all of us get hooked for life buying a beach outfit for them as they get older doesnt have to cost the earth. Tight lines
