Hello mate,

Yep - I've fished there a few times in the last couple of weeks. Depends on your preference, but you could do worse than the pier. I helped a first-time fisherman net a 15.5lb Cod there last week, and had one myself (around 1.5lbs), and my neighbour had two (in the 2-ish lb bracket).

Also done OK on the beach - would suggest either Kingsdown or Sandwich end, as I say it's down to preference, whether you fancy beach or pier. I would aim to do high-water at Sandwich end, and probably low water at the Kingsdown end. Pier doesn't seem to matter much about the state of tide, basically any time you're getting a bit of run. I suspect it'll be pretty busy on Friday/Saturday night, and that combined with spring tides may make things interesting in terms of tangles on the bottom deck!

Best baits have been (predictably) lug (preferably yellow-tails or blacks) and squid. The 15lb-er came on squid strip.

I think whatever happens you can expect a good haul of decent sized Pouting and Whiting, plus the odd Codling. Last trip I had Pouts, Whiting, Dogfish, Dab and a Codling - so there's plenty of variety.

Good luck!!

Cheers,
JB.
