Exclamation please can u help a new angler

ive just moved right next to worthing beach, does anyone have any advise for fishing the stretch of beach from the pier towards lancing behind the swimming pool? what am i likely to catch? and are there "best" baits to fish? are there certain times that are better than others? id rather not fish of the pier as i like to be by my self and just chill. i did fish last month and had two fish that i think were bass but they were only 4inch long so they went straight back. any advise would be great.... thanks in advance.

i'll ask my brother as he does beach fishing. i know he said not much is going on at the moment, along the stretch (he mainly fishes pevansey, but goes along the coast) he reckons it'll start picking up from about the end of the month.
will check what baits he uses.

To be honest its not the greatest stretch of beach (east worthing) for fishing but you should catch small bass and flatties pretty regularly. If you dont like the pier you are better of heading east towards widewater at Lancing or westwards towards goring. Widewater tends to be good for numbers of fish whilst goring oftens has better sized fish.
