Walton Pier a loose end?

I've found myself with a free day on Monday and wondered if it would be a good idea to go to Walton for a morning/afternoon's fishing (tide runs up from around 09:00am. According to Sea Angler it suits tarts like me who can't cast properly etc.

Sooo, anybody think it's a good idea? Anybody able to head that way on Monday 28th Jan?

Re: Walton Pier a loose end?

One of my favourite venues before I moved to Hants.

Can produce codling all through the winter.

Key to fishing that pier is: stem in rough weather; end jetty when calmish.
Also, fish uptide which means changing corners for the flood and ebb.

Lug the best bait, although the codling were partial to large lug baits tipped with a hermit crab. Crabs, shrimps etc could easily be caught in a landing net dropped over the side and baited with a mackerel head.

Re: Walton Pier a loose end?

Well that screwed that then! All going well muntil a minor domestic issue yesterday, which canned my planned day off.

Anyway thanks for the good advice and when I get back from Qatar, I'll try again! That said thanks to Gerry's I'm taking a Daiwa Wilderness Surf back with me. Should get me more than sea bream!

Cheers all.
