Seaford Bay fishing Hi All, I had planned to finally get out for a days fishing today but domestic interventions prevented me doing so until about 3.30 and then without my fishfinder, GPS (too long to explain!) and no bait as for some reason the tackle shop at Newhaven was closed. Anyway limited to Mackerel hooks the sea was perfect and despite being hounded by a local trawler off Seaford Head I managed to come back with half a dozen decent sized Mackerel. Doesn't sound a lot but with the water being perfect for some unresistable speed trials and with my very limited fishing experience and skills I was pretty pleased, and it was a great couple of hours on the water. Rubbish Summer but what a great couple of days we've had, unbelievable for October. Cheers: John

Re: Seaford Bay fishing Hi John, have you tried off the beach, there quite a few cod being caught at the moment! Are you into shore fishing? I live by splash point and go quite a lot so if your interested we can go for a session one night. Hail to the fish

Re: Seaford Bay fishing Hi John, You are very lucky in having your boat based at Newhaven. You have some excellent bass fishing inshore both East and West of your location, and some absolutely superb trolling with lures. Plus the numerous wrecks. And now with the codling arriving, the world is your oyster! (well, at least Beachy head to Selsey Bill) __________________ WWW.FISHYROB.CO.UK Diary of an Obsessed Fishing Guide

Re: Seaford Bay fishing Seaford is an amazing beach, a moody beach, and often in daylight a fishless beach, although if the water is clear one of the most reliable beaches in the area for mackerel. Where to fish is down to conditions. In big seas with a West or Sout West wind, Tidemills over the low for the bass. You get a lovely surf, and the beach there has yellow tails on it, so fresh outs are the bait for lots of action. Sandeel or squid will see you with the better fish if you have the patience. With moderate swells, its bass tine over the high (and often the low) all the way from the buckle to splash point, fishing just off the back of the waves, the distance cast dependant on how heavy the sea is. (In heavy seas you need to cast further, otherwise the swells dump your tackle back on the beach for you) Otherwise, the cod have arrived, and are worth a look on big tides or smaller tides with heavy seas. Whiting are there in their droves, still the odd sole gets caught along there, pouting are also there in huge numbers, and are well worth deploying for the bass on clear calm nights, such as we have at the moment with the Northerly winds. IF you still fail to find the fish, check out my website, where there is an option for me to show you how and where. Tight lines. Seaford is well worth keeping going at, as the more you fish it, the more you will get to "feel" it. And dont hesitate if you see someone catching to go and have a chat and a look to see what and why. Anglers are mostly a very friendly bunch, and sea angling isnt on the whole a sport where secrets are kept..... :) __________________ WWW.FISHYROB.CO.UK Diary of an Obsessed Fishing Guide
