Loch Long today, friday

popped up this morning for a couple of hours, wife caught 11 mackies to my 10, returned them all back to the water
spinning with dexter lures, was a nice morning and relaxing too,,,

Talking Re: Loch Long today, friday

out of interest , did you handle the mackerel before returning them to the water ?
A lot of talk lately seems to suggest that mackerel soon die from burns caused by a reaction to being touched by human hands
In 20 years of catching them from the shingle bank i hadn't heard of this till recently but i have recently invested in a livebait tank so will try kepping them without handling to see the results

Having the missus beat you is never a good thing mind

i handled them , but most came off the hook when i turned it round, iv heard this about holding them but seeing them shoot off they looked ok

I have heard this as well. They swim off, but apparently die within 24 hours or so? My mate was actually talking about this when we were boat fishing yesterday and were returning some mackeral.
