Smile Granton on spey

Hey guys hoping to go to Granton on Spey for easter weekend. Anyone recommend any good - boat trips, spots for beach casting or fly and course spots in the area?

Thanks x

If you can cast to the sea from Granton then you should be in comps

Seriously though the nearest place to go sea fishing from Granton is probably near to Elgin. You have loads of little ports and rock outcrops around that area. Boat wise i aint sure whats up here now. I know there is one boat out of Lossiemouth but i won't recommended it as i have not heard good things about it.

Fly fishing wise. Well you are on the Spey. Loads of fishing places to go. There is also a Loch that you can fish for free when driving out from Granton towards Forres over the moors road. I cannot remember the name but if you look at a map then i am sure you can find it. I know it has brown trout in it as i know a few fishermen in the area that go there.

Red face Re: Granton on spey

Yip fair point there re sea- Fancy seeing Burghhead again though - what's the score re fishing at the harbour there? Need to do a fishin scout mission for hubby before he agrees to go anywhere! Also what kinda price you talkin about for a fly permit for the Spey? I'm hopin to head to Foggieloan( Aberchirder) to do a bit of family tree research and also to Marnoch Churchyard to look at old tombstones so it's better if he has somethin else to do! Also if it means I can do a bit of fly fishin myself and leave the kids with my folks I'll have a super relaxin time. Thanks for your help x

I shall try and get out to burghead for you and take some pics. Its only a few miles from the base so shouldn't be a problem. As for the fishing permit prices have a look over the net. It should give you a few prices.

Its not too far out of the way. I am on nights next week so i can get there during daylight before i have to start work back at the camp. Is it just the harbor area you want the pics of?

You'll get decent flatties in the harbor during the day and at dusk you should get coalfish and pollock making it in there too. But they would be smaller pollock and coalfish really.
