Question Hopeman/local area

Hi folks first post and all that stuff. Im a belfast boy and enjoyed fishing through the summer. I now have a bit more time on my hands and fancy ettin into a bit more fishin. I fished the hopeman pier today and not supprisingly drew a blank. I use a standard paternoster rig with squid. Any advice on good spots/ rigs or bait would be gr8

cheers

Re: Hopeman/local area

Oh and this time of year means either peeler crab or mackerel as main bait. Although in saying that ragworm will also work

Re: Hopeman/local area

having spent 15 years fishing from hopeman i can say that the best bait to use is lugworm, truthfully though there seems to be nothing left of the pier :s i was down today for 4 hours and only caught two little coalies

Re: Hopeman/local area

my record was 13 plaice in two hours :)
there used to be congers just straight down the back of the wall but havent seen any in a while, i think theyve been over fished personally iv only caught the one but i had to fight it round the wall to the east beach. there was no chance it was coming up an over lol
