stonehaven area tips

Hi,

I moved south of stonehaven and have been keen to try my luck at sea fishing. i am from Canada and have done almost all my fishing in fresh water so I am kind of new to this all. I have tried fishing the harbour at stonehaven but when i get there it is always so crowded. as i am new to all this sea fishing geer I don't really feel comfortable trying to cast safely with all those folks around. so my question is, does anyone know of other good places nearby to try for mackerel etc that I can get some good fishing and practice in?

Thanks for any help on this one.

Re: stonehaven area tips

Hi mate - not my area but a quick tip on casting is to practice in a field plus you will not loose any tackle !!

Ive fished peterhead ( to far away for you ) and all I can say is that when the mackerel are about all the locals come out in numbers so find a quiet place to fish for mackerel might be hard ! but good luck

Re: stonehaven area tips

Thanks for the tip mate.

I'm just used to fishing in the far north of Canada where the next person might be 50 miles away let alone the next fisherman! I might just have to get used to standing shoulder to shoulder. Its new and different anyway.
