Luce Bay/Loch Ryan

Fished on Monday, Tuesday, Weds - mixture of days & evenings ... HW & LW - caught s*d all - well to count anyway (fishing a competition) - I had 1 Plaice on rag on the practice day, then in the comp - 1 huge Mackerel on blacks ..... 50cm - I reckon well over a pound (?) but it didnt count ..
The winner of the comp (in my team ) caught 5 dogfish & a Rockling over 2 days - at least 3/4 of the competitors blanked.
Apparently the dead calm waters, all the sand being washed away from the Luce bay venues, and poor tides made for little being caught - oh yeah and it pi**ed down with rain on Weds
My wife summed it all up - "Just think you could have not gone, saved all that money and bought a new rod and caught lots of Bass on Eastney Beach" ..... says it all really - long live the South Coast beaches

Re: Luce Bay/Loch Ryan

Ta mate - the photo does not do it justice ..... was an amazing sight ...

Maccie - rules - some will have 1 maccy to count for a set weight/points, others will have nothing for any maccy caught - they are 'afraid' of a shoal of maccy being caught and upsetting the fishing balance but as there were only a half dozen caught - should have been allowed - still looking this one up - it seems it is a specimen weight .....
