Red face Portlethen Rocks 19/01/08

Went out this morning at about 3:00 only to find the wind that was blasting over Scotland last night, had dissapeared

That kinda scuppered my choice of mark that i was going to fish.

So after driving over to Aberdeen i thought i'd give Portlethen a go. Not fished there for a while so what the hell.

Arrived at 5:30 and decided that i wasn't going to venture out onto the rocks until i could see the sea state/swell properly.

Time for breakfast then eh?

Sat there until dawn was breaking. Beautiful clear sky but still cold.

Got out onto the rocks and decided to fish "The ship's stearn" mark. Nothing to really report after that because all i caught was coalies (biggest about 1.5lbs) and crabs. I tried all sorts of bait (mackerel, lugworm, squid and razorfish) but no cod could be tempted to take it.

By 9:30 i would say it was to bright to fish really and as the water was quite clear it only made it more likely to not get cod. Packed up at 15:00 and headed home.

Still a nice day to be out on and chill out whilst on the shoreline.

Yeah it is a lovely mark but in rough weather it's a no no and yet people still get washed off here every year. Some survive some don't
