Beachcasting gear

Hi All
I have been a coarse angler all my life but will soon hopefully be relocating to the coast and will hopefully be able take up beach fishing. Any advice regarding purchasing Rods, Reels and tripod would be greatfully accepted. Budget of around £300.
Thanks

Hi Polly, welcome to the forum.
I can highly reccoment the shakespeare salt rods from glasgow angling at £40 you won't find anything nearly as good for the price. You can easily afford 2 on your budget. They do a fixed spool version as well.

As for reels, it depends what your into. I prefere multis and would reccomend a couple of daiwa sl20sh to start out as they go for about £70 and cover you for just about any beach, pier or rock situation. You get alot for you money and they are easy to use.
Tripods, I hear the ian golds are meant to be the best. I got an unbranded one from my local tackle dealer and its been fine.
Hope this helps.
Jason

Re: Beachcasting gear

I will second what Jason has just said, if you find that you would still like to stay with the fixed spool style reels you should consider a penn surfmaster 850, at £55 each they are well within your budget. Or as suggested to someone else on here you can go for any diawa or shimano fixed spool reels as even the budget reels are made well. Dont be tempted into buying a reel under £50 as its more than likley to be crap and will break in no time at all!! You realy do get what you pay for with cheap reels
