Alright everyone I'm Tommy Crawford and I'm from Belfast. I'm new to this fishing and recently I've took up sea fishing with my mates (they have some experience but its been years since they last done it.) I've been enjoying it and I really want to learn more about rigs, bait, equipment, locations etc.

the last month or so i have been on eBay getting a load of gear on the cheap because I don't fancy spending a fortune (which I don't have) on a sport I've just taking a liking too. Here's a list of equipment I've either bought or someone gave me, I'm interested to know what other equipment i need to add or improve on...

RODS: Mitchell 14ft Challenge pro Beachcaster, Dennette 9ft Spinning rod and Shakespeare 12ft Navigator Beachcaster
REELS:Jarvis Walker Mirage EA850, Lineaeffe Vigor LN70 and Okuma Impact IM65
TACKLE BOX:about 15 assorted spinners for mackerel, swivel clips (different sizes), 4 Shakespeare sea float kits, 15lb yellow mono line, 10 shrimp bait sea traces, 10 other sea traces for mackerel,Different lead weights from 2oz to 6oz including breakaways, latex gloves, torches+headlamps, tip lights, knife and nail clippers

We have fished a few places like Whitehead, Larne, Orlock and Garron point and have caught some fish but i reckon i could improve my chances with some shared experience from this forum.

I would be glad if anyone reading this could give me feedback about my gear aswel as info about fishing around the Antrim coast.....Thanks

a tripod is a must for shore fishing with baits and i would get some 2 hook shore rigs for using with worm and fish baits..
Hooks from size 2 to 3/0 depending on bait size and species..
Shockleader in 50 or 60lb is needed when your not float fishing or spinning ..
Try clear mono during the day to increase bites and perhaps step up to 18lb if its rocky / rough ground..
I used to fish on the peir at Holywood when i first started out and on the boat from Bangor plus trips to Carnlough but only remember ever catchin pollack, coalfish and mackerel !
There were some mahoosive mullet under the pier but i never managed to land one of the damn things
