6500 end float problem.

I've been having a little issue wth one of my 6500's for a while now. It's a 6500 mag hi-speed and I can't seem to centre the spool with a very slight bit of play, without one of the end float cap being so loose as to worry me about it falling off on the beach.

It's almost as if the brass bush on the mag side isn't quite sitting flush, and the spool shaft is pushed slightly further out as a result. I've checked and everything seems alright though.

Any ideas?

Re: 6500 end float problem.

Hi, if you have done the as standard "usual" set up/ Turn both end caps off loose, but not fully off so they come off lol, now push the spool in 2wards the handle end tight and turn the end cap clockwise slowly till the spool is centred, now once you have done that leave that end alone, go to the other end cap "mag end" and turn that anticlockwise slowly till you get the slightest bit of side to side movement in the spool. If that fails mate get someone to check that the mag end plate has been put back on the right way and that the mag hasnt engaged properly as can happen. I know with the old 6500 that can happen/ easy fixed. Hope this helps. "Stud". Yours in sport, Paul. Ps since last ive had 6 bass last month, fish on the fly and ystday a 150g pb on court 190yards dead, not bad for my 7th time. Tight lines and hope you get reel sorted.

Re: 6500 end float problem.

Thanks Paul, I'll give that a go, but I'm 100% sure the mag is fine (It slow the spool when you spin it in free spool) and I've played with the end caps till the cows came home with no effect.

I'll let you know how I get on.
