Re: Cod Baits/rigs search for links to;- pulley pennel. or long n low / up n over. for rigs. for baits i'd go with squid on its own or + lugworm or crab or ragworm cocktails. these seem to be the most favored across the majority of venues ![]() got me....... ![]() __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.

Re: Cod Baits/rigs said it before ![]() try this take squid remove head and insides and the plastic backbone and stuff it with fresh lug doesnt matter if lug breaks the juises are inside the squid thread hook threw squid 2 or 3 times bind end with lassy cotton add squid head(optional) put small slits in squid to create a slow release of juices this setup can survive the most rigorous of casts whereas others with the worm outside you lose some worm on a strong cast![]()

Re: Cod Baits/rigs I like the lug and squid cocktail on a clipped down pennel rig , it seems to catch well for me. I tent to push the lug onto the hook maybe 3-5 good sized worm and above that, gut, de-head and bone the squid, wrap this around the lug and tie on using bait eleastic, then to top it off hook the squid head on the end of your bait and tie on (Always make sure you leave a good showing of the hook still as you want to catch the bugger). This gives wonderful scent! Defiantly use the squid heads tho (and at the end) this makes the bait seem more natural to the fish, maybe its luck but I've been catching using this method and my friend doesn't use squid heads and hasn't had a cod all winter so far. Goodluck

Re: Cod Baits/rigs I've found, the most effective way at the moment is live baiting,, whiting or small dabs are the best bait use a pennel 1/0 on the bottom and a 6/0 tied off on the top, I've had 18.5 from dungeness beach two 9s and a few 5 to 7s on live bait, if the big cod r there they will take the live bait defo
