Hope to go to old portsmouth i cast out to that pole but still can not hold ground that's with a 5oz griper, running trace and pulley rigs. what do you think i am doing wrong, anyone thanks

Don't know the area at all to be honest, but generally more lead, and thinner diameter lines both help to hold in strong currents. Try to cast up tide of the target, then pay out a bow of line which should get caught in the tide and hopefully pull the gripper tight over your intended spot.

Obviously the state of tide will have massive effect as well, during slack over high and low will be easier than when the tide is ripping through mid tide.

Of course, it might be that the tide is just too strong to hold at the mark full stop. Maybe some of the regulars will help with mark specifics.
