Isle Of Wight Sea Fishing Hi All I'm going to the Isle of Wight for a week with my family tomorrow 08/08/09 staying near Rookley. I am taking my Sea fishing gear and was wondering if anyone could recommend some suitable and safe fishing locations to take my son fishing and the best bait to use. Any info as well on what is currently being caught around the Isle would be gratefull. Many Thanks Dave

Re: Isle Of Wight Sea Fishing If you still have internt access and can read this then give Union Street tackle a call in ryde. They sell quite a useful little booklet for a few quid and seem to have rag consistenly. If it's just fish rather than size then Bembridge Lifeboat station was good for a few small Wrasse. Sandown pier is OK in the day. Dare I say that there are other forums too, and one at least is swarming with Caulkheads and other island residents. We're off there Sunday. __________________ Just remember, not all the heroes died. www.helpforheroes.org.uk

Re: Isle Of Wight Sea Fishing Hi Barbelblanker Thanks for replying. We've just returned from the IOW. Managed to go fishing one day. Called into the tackle shop in Newport who supplied us with some Ragworm. We ended up in Shanklyn on the day of the Regatta so very busy. We made our way to the very end of the beach near the entrance to Shanklyn Chyne not far from the rocky headland. As we were setting up our gear two guys walked past carrying a bass which I estimated at between 10 - 12 lbs. It was an absloute beauty. The moment passed before I had a chance to talk to them but they were carrying a couple of rods so I reckon they caught it along the headland not far away. We fished with rag and spinners for about an hour but the wife got a little chilly so we moved on. No luck that day. Moral of the story is - They are out there... Best of Luck on IOW fishing..Let us know how you get on
