Mackerel Trolling Hi - we are currently in the Salcombe Estuary and would be very grateful for any advice on catching mackerel via trolling. Specifically, which is the best trolling speed and, do we have better chances on a rising or falling tide? Thanks in advance! Tim

Re: Mackerel Trolling Hi Tim. I can't advise for Salcombe but in Weymouth harbour I have found the best speed is walking pace. It is easier to work that out if you have a visual reference to gauge against, but typicaly just under 4 knots. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk

Re: Mackerel Trolling 4 knots around the river entrance, pollack aswell as mackerel. You will see a set of rocks near the entrance it is near these you tend to get the pollack
