| Re: oracle 1V I dont like the rio fly line full stop allthough the windcutter is not bad now. Size of line depends on line raiting on your rod mate. But wee tip if your rod say says 8 weight use 1 up that would be an 9 weight and so on, that just loads rod and makes casting and presentation that bit smoother. Also were are you fishing your rod, it could be to big @15 foot.. Wf thats weight forward line i would recommend, i use wf tried dt and went back to wf. Anyway get back to me and tell me were are you fishing and believe it or not your set up could be to big, why make it hard casting a big brute of a rod all day. Welcome to forum mate. Look 4ward on your reply. |

| Re: oracle 1V Don't get a Rio Powespey for it, it will not turn over properly. I had an Oracle IV briefly, but sold it buying a B&W Norway Speycaster. In our area most use 15 footers so nothing wrong there, as a rod I found it a bit lifeless, good lines for turnover are Bill Drury Speyworks. But strong turnover can mean powerful turnover and splash landing. I would buy a Lochmor Intermediate off ******* £20 in 10/11 use 6 feet of mono, or to get deeper a five foot sinking polyleader and four feet mono. Then forget all about lines, enjoy your fishing and review things next year. Just an idea from a recent treader of your path. __________________ www.troutflyrod.com |
