| Redd Counting Half way though the Fromes yearly Redd count and have seen over 120 Redds, in the Dorchester area alone. This is really encouraging for us as its the best count we've seen in 6 years of counting! Redds are areas of gravel that a Hen Salmon cleans and moves to form a crater in the river bed, in which to spawn. The biggest seen this year so far was roughly 8 long x 4 wide metres. The gravel was apearing in a mound out of the water. I have been lucky to witness Salmon spawning together many times, but the process still amazes me! Hopefully many more Salmon to come from the Frome in the future! ![]() |
