Small Fish and Rods

Qeustion,

With fish like butterfish, sandeel and sticklebacks you can't exactly hook em that easy. So would it be allowed to go hunting for em with a net and take a photo that way?

Re: Small Fish and Rods

I highly doubt it, as the idea is to catch them on rod and line, so I'd say no!

I've caught 3 stickleback this year on rod and line

Re: Small Fish and Rods

As for the sand eel(launce), im sure the group that are going on the forum boat trip will target them whilst they are drifting the banks of the skerries, they are commonly caught on small feathers

Re: Small Fish and Rods

I have managed to hook Panfish with Eagle Claw hooks (small ones). It can be done. I believe I was using size 6. I bet you could hook anything shy of a minnow. Netting would be fun, but that would be the how many fish at once contest- say on the commercial fishing message boards!

I'v caught sticklebacks on a worm tyed on the end of cotten, The trick is to get a worm the right dia:, watch them choke on it, then pull 'em up before they have chance to get of. Us school kids used to do it all the time
Best regards,
Deepsix.
