sunday piking the outcome

well had a nice day today,it makes a change not to be blown about by hooligan force wind or dumped on by 10 inches of rain
i got to the lake at 0330 and was comfortably fishing by 4,it was a chilly starlit night with a lovely crescent moon low in the southern sky
as usual i didn't have a sniff until first light at about 0700 when i had a very fast take on a half mackerel set against the far bank of the bay i was fishing
unfortunately this fish went straight into a bank of reeds and it all locked solid,i could feel the fish on and could see it occasionally swirling on the surface but i couldn't budge it
it was then that the bailiff turned up and promptly put the boat in and released the fish which was about 7lb or so and it swum off strongly none the worse for its ordeal

things slowed down after that into the now familiar pattern of lure fishing and the odd dropped run,
i finally had a second fish just before midday when my right hand rod baited with a half herring covered in eel oil ( i now smell like a sardines naughty bits !! ) went shooting off and another fish of about 7 to 8 lb came in,
i took a pic of the last thing a small roach might see before i put him back

another fish followed 5 minutes later, this went about 5lb and fell to a dead roach freelined in the margins and was unhooked in the water
well the fishing died after that, the guy a couple of swims up had a 15 but it was all very slow so i cleared off before it got dark for a change

had a good day, didn't enjoy the sunday fishing experience, there are just too many anglers out and about, back to mid week next i think

oh and 1.5 points please mods

Well done Paul. I hope the baliff was a friendly one, I have been fishing for 6 months now and never yet met a baliff.

Re: sunday piking the outcome

Well done Paul .....don't you just love piking.....I'm hooked on it now, after my first one, looking forward to get my first double...if I ever catch one that is

I'd prefer fishing during the week for the same reason but sadly work won't allow it
