first of year

got to the lake at 0600 this morning and settled into one of my favourite swims
the fishing has been a bit hard lately and today was no exception
had to work for any fish,
my only bite came about 10 ish ,a legered half joey mackerel was picked up by a very lively fish of about 8lb
didn't get any pics or accurate weight as it was deeply hooked and didn't want to stress the fish any more than i had to, it swum away strongly , thats more important than a photo ,
tried all afternoon and into darkness but couldn't get anything else,
i think we desperately need a few weeks of proper winter weather,the weed still hasn't died back properly,the fish still seem to be in their summer condition to some degree , the water is still too warm and to cop it all i was buzzed by a mozzy today - in january ?? crazy.

well at least i got my 2007 campaign off with a fish
