| well had a full day pass but knew that only really meant the morning, and was not wanting to waste last chance for my first double figure pike so i was up early for me and at the lime kilns exeter just after 7 walked right to 4th or 5th swim and set up 1 rod out just to left on float with 1/2 a roach other rod sent way over to reeds on other bank with ledgered lamprey section popped up first session using all my own made rigs and not shop ones as well settled down and txt baggie where i was after about 35-40 minuted thought all was a bit quiet so was getting up to move baits when ledger rod signalled a single bleep looked over there were a few coots mucking arround in reeds above where bait was so ignored it thinking it was that, then BEEP BEEP so picked up rod slowly and lifted YES!!!!!!!!!!! there was a weight so i struck and fish on well it first came in like a wet sack then when close went loopy giving several long runs, lots of head shaking and stayed deep must have played fish for 4-5 minutes this was great then into the net went my first ever double, which then made a right mess of my net , my handle broke at same time(mm something more for xmas ) and went loopy agin on mat, tis was one fiesty beast shouted to anglers 2 swims up who came over and took photo for me, sorry on mobile as other camera packed up again ,a big thanks to them ![]() ![]() then txt just about everyone i know to say fish was 16lb, when get home looking at photo reminded me which scales i took and checked and realised they were already zero'd so didnt need to remove 2lb for sling that I had done on the bank in the exhitement so was actually 18lb baggie then turned up gutted that had missed some action , but undeterred we moved arround the corner and we dead baited and went spinning for a while , but nothing else came to either of us left just after 12 so as not to loose drinking pass tonight on way back spoke to ther anglers the one who had taken photo had had a 19lber early on makkie other had had a small jack on makkie so things are picking up a great day and what an end to this year cant wait for 2007 Dave __________________ 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day , Game on www.exmouthsaa.co.uk I have the body of a God, Pity its Buddha :-0 Last edited by pingu; 12-25-2006 at 10:09 PM. |

Wow Cracking fish Dave. Dead jealous, all I caught yesterday was a cold but i'm already itching to get out again after reading your report. I see Lamprey did the business again. Definate pattern forming there. Very well done mate & Move over Fishy Paul & Baitmaster, it looks like we have another Forum expert in the making LOL __________________ One man's fish is another man's poissons http://www.deepsea.co.uk http://www.wildtrout.org Last edited by Greenheart; 12-24-2006 at 01:45 PM. |
