| Slow Start..... February's my favourite month without a doubt........as most of you will know its usually when the pike are at there optimum weight. I was out yesterday and was dead optimistic as theres definately a slight change in the weather, its still cold but a bit of the nips been out the air the last couple of nights and its small changes like this that spur the pike into feeding......sometimes! I was hoping to open my February account with a mid double anyway but all i got was 2 jacks of about 6-7 lb each. Not that im complaining you understand there all welcome but when you've built yourself up for a decent catch and you get a couple of 'bait wasters' its a bit of a let down. They both came on legered smelt, fished at the top of a steep rock face, just the sort of place you would expect a semi-dormant ,20lb female to be lying up waiting for an easy meal to come floating past her nose. In this run up to spawning time all they want to do is pack on as much weight as possible so that their in peak condition, this is why big pike caught in February are often the most attractive your likely to catch all year........anyway, i'm gonna have to wait till next week for another chance at Edgelaws 'miss February'.........cant wait!! __________________ "I LOVE THE SMELL OF ESSOX IN THE MORNING!!"
