| floats when out for a zed/pike session what style of float do people prefer to use bottom attachment loaded or un- loaded or sliders style floats i personaly like to use bottom attachment unloaded so i can easerly change for night fishing with out de-tackling to remove my float and the same in morning just attach float back on to the quick link baitmaster      |

| Re: floats yes pencil floats i feel are the best loaded or un loaded plus these i feel again have an advantage when waters get alot of pressure, due to that when a pike or zed picks up the bait the resistence against the float is less because these are thiner than dumpy sliders or drennan style floats and therefore less resistence against the float at the surface, some will argue this is minimal but i say it can be the difference between a positive take and a aborted one. baitmaster |

| Re: floats I use the Drennan crystal slider floats, but that's probably because I don't know any better. I have been reading up on presentation techniques and the pencil float that BM describes, features pretty heavily as one to try. I like the idea of fishing them "Waggler" style as it does give flexibility and ease of changing over. __________________ Eventually all things merge into one, and a River runs through it. | Re: floats I used to use sliders 'all' the time.......but becuse i usually fish still waters and 'cause i dont fish at too much of a depth i changed to the bung.I find it an advantage because theres no knots or shot to fix it on your mainline and so it retains its full breaking strain, also you can remove the bit quill its attached with and move it up or down your line and change depth wthout de-tackling. I know that the bung is not ideal for all situations ,deep water for example were i would switch back to the slider with a stop knot or even do away with the float and just leger, but it does me for most of my piking.  __________________ "I LOVE THE SMELL OF ESSOX IN THE MORNING!!"
