| got me a croc well it seems i am on a roll,after all my whinging about serial blanking it has all been forgotten now. had a day on my favourite pike lake today with my son chris,with a strong southerly wind forecast we decided to fish a nice little corner of the lake with the wind behind us for comfort. we got settled in our swims about 8 o'clock and worked very hard without a single bite, we were using herring,roach,bream,pollan and lamprey,it just wasn't happening,i wobbled,spun floatfished with no joy. the lake looked lifeless,nothing was moving and nothing was biting,just as i was discussing a move with chris at about 12.30 a few small fish started topping in front of us so we decided to stay for the day. at 2.30 i was 3 swims up looking around when i heard a buzzer go off,i thought it was chris's,he said it was mine,i started running and promptly fell arse over tit on a slippery boardwalk. winded and rather flustered i struck and immeadiately a large fish jumped about 30 yards out,it kited in close and fought it out right in front of me, a lively 5 minutes later she was in the net,safely unhooked she pushed down the scales to a very satisfying 17lb 12oz ,a very nice fish indeed,i will be back again there in january,its sure to be a twenty by then. a day when we were staring a blank in the face,it just goes to show,you have to keep going right to the end.     |
