Re: spinning set up

Rod, reel, line, wire trace, lures/spinner etc, net, forceps (or even better long nosed pliers), possibly an unhooking mat.

I'm sure other will think of more

Re: spinning set up

15lb main line ish, 25lb wire trace, 9-12ft spinning rod depending upon range fishing, 2-3foot unhooking mat, 12" long nose pliers, 36" net with metal handle not carbon. Thats all you will need for spinning, plugging etc, but for baitcasting different action rods etc,

Re: spinning set up

Need a lighter spinning rod or use larger lures (plugs etc.) which will weigh more. Having said that you should still be able to cast the lighter spinners with that rod just not as effectively.

Re: spinning set up

Just because the rod is rated heavier than the plugs/lures to be cast should do no harm to the casting. For most of my lure fishing i use a Wychwood Extremis 60- 120g rated plugger rod. Now even if i'm casting say a small surface popper weighing maybe 30g i can still give it as much distance as i want without the extra flick you would get with a lighter rod. I picked this rod intentionally as i was not gonna go out and buy rods for every weight category there is ,so i picked a mid range rod that would cope with lighter lures and i also use heavier jerk type lures with this rod also with no problems.

The other pike spinning rod i have is used only for jerk baits and will handle any heavier lure thrown at it. Between these two rods all my pike spinning needs are met!
