| Hi all you Pike fishermen/women. All the articles I've read regarding for and against summer piking do not explain how when you catch a pike in summer you could cause it to die. Can anyone out there explain the rationale behind potentially harming these fish in summer?? Regards Debs |

| Re: summer piking I think it's to do with there being less oxygen in the water, so the fish can't recover....apparently! I however think it's fine to fish for pike in summer, if they're treated right, and returned quickly they'll be fine in my opinion. There's been a few other articles on this here which you may find interesting to read. | Re: summer piking The main points of the summer pike debate are thus : in the summer months the water is warmer and less oxygenated so the pike (the big ones anyway )usually expend more energy in a fight and so , the "experts" reckon that when you catch them even although you treat them well and fully revive them that they then swim away and die !! If you read my posts summer piking 1 & 2 you will see what i think of this theory..........this is 1 bandwagon im not prepared to jump on ! ![]() __________________ "I LOVE THE SMELL OF ESSOX IN THE MORNING!!"
