Ebb tides?

Can anyone help me out here?

I was speaking to a tour guide who fishes on the Norfolk Broads and was saying the pike prefer the "ebb" tide and will feed better.

So..what's an ebb tide? And do you think it will affect the pike if it's not an ebb?

An ebb tide is just another way of saying the tide is going out.
A flood tide is an incoming tide,as for the pike bit i m no help sorry.

one of the rivers i fish is tidal,the river rises about 4 foot or so on the rising tide,
i too find that the pike prefer the ebb,i really don't know why,
perhaps it is because of the rising tide slowing up the natural flow and sometimes backing it up,on my river the flow goes the other way for a few hours,
the fishes usual haunts and ambush points may not be so useful when the flow changes
