 another tough cold day at the office, but Rob got the results well i have been excied about another crack at Chew since got boat offer 3 weeks ago and despite a few near setback yesterday when my boat partner ( captain Ahab  Lee ) had to pull out with bad back and family sickness ( get well soon mate ),After few quick phonecalls and it was game on for Chew again today, now with Rob ( owner of Exmouth Tackle Shop, a mad keen Pike fly fisherman but today due to chew rules would try spinning and deads for first time  )got away at 06.45 with gauge on -3* and a balmy -2 when at chew, but their good full english soon stoked us up, and onto the water we went  it was grey all day with a on/off N/E wind which never lifted the temp above 1* so Tip rings of spinning rods were iceing up all day, and god knows what the wind chill wasw when it blew  There were the usual few calamities as we crossed lines/ caught the bottom etc but thats all part of the fun we moves several times from start of near the dam / denny island to shelter (  ) near morton point. where rob ( using a green fox rage lure) at last exclaims " I'm in!" " its not too big"well after a few good runs it surfaced and a few expleteives came out yep its another Chew Lump  and just before battery on scales went phutt we got it at 29lb  what a result a new PB for Rob several moves later and hes in again this time a smaller fish at 6-8lb lightly hooked again on same fox lure and unhooked at side of boat and returned before pic well we went on till time up at 5, it had been a long day, and hate to say i blanked again ( even after borrowing a fox lure myself) i was warm enough in clothing but fingers were frozen from keeping clearing rod rings of ice good day despite the blank as was good company saw a great fish caught to the boat and agin learn loads( saw very few others catch either) one day i will crack chew, but today wasnt that day, guess i'll have to go back thanks Rob  dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives     |
