| Re: Any tips on canal pike fishing please help Look for cover, i.e large overhanging trees, reed beds, moored boats, bridges etc. Don't ignore the near margin, I've had plenty of fish from right under my rod tip on canals and rivers alike. Also look for any places where matches are held regularly, pike won't be far away from the silverfish. Fish tight to the features, I usually just fish a trace followed by a small quick change egg sinker. It's essentially free-lining but gives you just enough weight to tighten down and set your indicator and you can also add or decrease the weight depending on the bait size. Stay mobile and travel light to enable you to cover plenty of ground. Tight lines. |
