Re: King Sedgemoor drains

Well after getting my rod licence and some bait, went to the drains and got a single jack of around 6LB on Tuesday.
Then went again yesterday and my dreams came true, started at around 9 AM and was just about to fall asleep as one does, when the bait alarm sounded, seen one of my floats disappearing under and struck, thought I had another jack on as there was not much fight then all of a sudden my clutch on the real went into overtime and within seconds the float was around 50 yards up the drain managed to turn it and had to wind in sharpish as it made its way past me in the other direction, after around 3 or 4 mins i managed to get it to start to come to the bank, just about 5 yards away I just saw this massive head come up and my heart went into over drive, grabbed my landing net and tried to get it into it but my net was to small, so I had to bring it right to the bank and chin it out, my legs where like jelly, got it onto the unhooking mat I use my old barber jacket got the mouth open and found the hooks where only just in PHEW went to get my scales but they where not there so had a brain wave, I used my large golfing brolly a guide to the size
I would estimate the weight at around 28 to 32 LB, I then gently put her back and she swam off instantly, boy what a day

Re: King Sedgemoor drains

Turn off at junction 23 Glastonbury, after half a mile stop for the mother of all breakys at the burger van full English with B@b and a cupa for under a fiver get to junction just after turn left and you will see the drains,
found out as I was packing up that 20 miles of it are run by the Bridgewater angling association oops, and your meant to get a day ticket from any angling shop but the signage was misleading on the part I fished near one of the bridges, sign on one side of bridge said Bridgewater the other side said dont leave rubbish on bank, if you google it there are some pics of where I was

I was on the left between the trees and the first bush next to the water

Re: King Sedgemoor drains

this may help with your estimate although to get a more accurate estimate a girth measurement would help
