| Piking in September Hi there, Thinking on a weekend fishing up towards Aviemore, mid september... What techniques and set up should I use? I realise summer is generally associated with lures and winter with deadbaits. Had a blank couple of days in July, but was using static deadbaits...perhaps this was the problem? I presume Pike spawn in the spring time? Any advice appreciated! Thanks, David. |

| Re: Piking in September well im fairly new to pike fishing. i take my kids and my girlfriend fishing as often as i can, shortly after i caught a pike that was after my fish i realised it was a lot of fun and a bit of hard work even though it was a small jack. where i am in Norwich they dont seem to go for dead bait so while they are fishing for themselves they are also getting me live bait. everything i have read so far just says that they fight a lot more in the warmer waters and seasons so i guess they are a bit more active. come winter i shall keep on using live as i enjoy watching my pike float move a little faster when there is something there that it doesnt like. for those that dont like using live i understand. as soon as my bait starts going "belly up" and isnt swimming as fast i use another fish 9 times out of 10 the bait will swim off and if not then the seagulls will eat it. i have posted in the forum a pike i caught and would be intrested in seeing some you have got. Pike in Norwich UK have you tried using live bait? |
