| Northern Scotland Pike... Hi there, I'm always impressed with the weathy of information and the forcoming nature of people on here so thought I'd sign up in a bid to aid my quest! ![]() I've not caught Pike in about 10 years now...Having previously caught at Loch Kinord, Aberdeenshire as a teenager... I have blanked twice at Loch Alvie, Aviemore - Although I hear there are good fish in there, can anyone confirm this? Any advice on Loch around Aviemore area? Can anyone suggest anywhere else? Also, is it worth dead baiting at this time of year or am I wasting my time and better spinning, plugging? I have had alot of empty days...but thats fishing I guess! Thanks just now. David. |

| Re: Northern Scotland Pike... I don't know the area so sorry i cant help you there but to increase your chances of hooking a pike i usually set up 2 dead baits, one on the deck and one on a paternoster rig. I will also spend a bit of time spinning or I'll get the fly rod out and have a bit of fun with the little jacks on the fly. It's all about increasing your chances, the more baits you have in the water the more chance you have of hooking up BUT make sure you don't kick the ar** out of it and fish more than you can handle. If you ever head down to the central belt gimme a shout and maybe i could take you to one of my secret spots! All the best and good luck, anything else you need to know just ask. |
