Spinner rods for pike floating?

Ive just got a brand new spinner rod and actually noticed that the test curve is 2.3 pounds yet my carp rod is 1.8!? I always use my carp rods when pike floating but was thinking that i could probably use my spinner rod?
Its alot easier to carry around and is still designed to hold big fish, is it a bad idea?

Re: Spinner rods for pike floating?

I use my spinning rod to float fish or wobble when stalking in the margins. At 9ft sometimes you can sneak into the 'holes' were a longer rod would only result in major tangles. It is more than capable of handling a big fish just a bit too delicate to cast larger baits a long way.

Wobbling allows a lot of distance to be covered and as with lure fishing you cannot beat the feeling of experiencing the take with the rod in your hand!

When ledgering or fishing at a distance I use a 2.75 TC carp rod but its so heavy unless you've got a decent size fish on theres not much of a fight, however much you try to play the fish.
