| Finally I got my double!!! After 2 years of trying, I finally got my double of 11 1/2 lb!  It was also the first time we had an overnight fishing trip which I must say was very enjoyable! We fished from 7pm Friday night til 1pm Saturday, with a total of 10 pike caught. 6 of which were mine! We had a whole range of baits with us with the favourites being Roach & Pollen. All my fish were caught on a simple pop up rig, and instead of a heavy lead to hold the bait to the bottom, I used a 2oz maggot feeder filled with chopped sardines which I do believe helped me out alot because one of my mates who was fishing didn't use that setup and only caught 1 pike the whole trip! | Re: Finally I got my double!!! Fair play mate some nice pike their! If you want the bigger Pike, try fishing a local marina, resivour, lagoon! Try a small roach or daice live/ dead bait on a simple Pike float set up with a BB wait below the float, set at about 3-4 foot! i have had my biggest pike on that! If your using a dead bait i would advise a double treble trace but if you use it on a live bait i find the fish struggles to create enough disturbance in the water making it harder to attract a half decent sized pike! Thats just a tip that i use but you seem to know your stuff! Very imaginative tactics i like it;) good luck fella try the set up and let me know how you get on! |
