Hi Im New Very New

Hi i went fishing for the first time with a friend of mine yesterday and instantly loved it. Im just after some advice as a newbie. Basically we went fishing for pike yesterday and that is what i hope to be doing in the future. I would like some advice on rod and reel but dont want to spend a fortune probably about £50 - £100 is that enough or do i need to spend more etc.

Cheers Adam

Re: Hi Im New Very New

You will be able to get a not bad outfit for around £100. Have a shop around and see what you can get on offer. You can't go wrong with a Shimano or Diawa reel, and there are numerous rods around that you could use for Pike and Carp fishing.

look arround the tackle shops if have second hand
a 2 and a half - 2 & 3/4 lb carp rod with a 5000 baitrunner should be good enough and in budget and good hunting

Welcome! You've made the first best move by asking people here for advice. I am not pike angler , if you are genuinely open to advice though, there are a few here that will be more than glad to help.

Re: Hi Im New Very New

to be honest mate ur best bet is to go after other course fish first and get used to stuff a little as pike look mean and tough there actually really delicate so just be careful with them and all u need really is a decent carp rod and a bait runner reel but never get a reel from argos as they are pants lol
