had a short stroll round my favourite pike water yesterday and they are beginning to show signs of spawning,
so thats me finished for this pike season,i won't fish for them when they are spawning,
it must be time to catch some tench and carp etc

Yeh i'd agree with you there but over here they dont tend to spawn for a few weeks yet, i'll head down maybe tomorrow and see what the situation is.

I might get a session at the weekend then that will do me until they finish spawning.

Sea angler type question Paul . How do you tell the Pike are coming on to spawn ???

From what I can gather mate they tend to come on to spawn from Feb up until May'ish. They gather in shallow water, reed beds, gravely areas and such. Big females attract lots of jacks which are basically horny little males wanting to get some fertilisation action. Hope that sheds a little light buddy??

sorry i missed that mike,yes,its more or less what scottie describes,
i don't want to interfere with their rumpy pumpy
