looking for a rig design

hi guys
im looking for a rig wich allows you to pop up a dead bait on a river but also using a float i gave floating a dead bait yesterday but it kept drifting into the reeds and snags so im looking for a rig that will allow me to float fish a popped up bait close to the opposite bank without the rig drifting down the river.
i dont have bite alarms as just getting into it they will come next month so a float seems to be the way forward for now.
i just want the bait to stay in 1 place so i can do other bits and bobs while waiting for a run.

anyone help?
gaz

Re: looking for a rig design

Why dont you just ledger your bait on the bottom and pop it up from there?

I tried the ledger float method yesterday but I couldn't get the float to re-surface for some reason, couldn't see why as it was free running
