Angler cheated in pike competition

Just found this on another board. Disgusting!

An angling body has strongly condemned the "crazy and cruel" actions of a fisherman who inserted a lead bar weighing one pound into the live fish in order to win a competition.
The cheat is believed to have forced the bar down the fish's throat in hope of claiming between €100 and €150 prize money.
The day after the Midland Pike Angling competition the pike was found dead at the location with the weight inside it.
John Chambers of IFPAC said "it's cruel for starters and the prize money was only small, to do something like this is crazy.

The pike was found the next day...

Was reading through the site I got it off mate and I'm not sure if he has or not. Everyone is calling for him to be named and shamed, but peoples replies aren't giving any details out.

My question is this... How is inserting a lead bar into a pike going to win you a competition? Or am i being silly?

Well ,it could only increase the weight a bit ,unless the angler knew the next sized fish was close ,but who knows ...i`ve seen it done by a dopey angler with a cod trying to win an inter boat comp once ,stuffed 3 8 oz weight down the cods throat,fish looked a bit odd with 3 torpedo shaped lumps in its gut tho.

well lets say this bloke is 15 times the size of the pike so lets find him and ram a 15lb lead bar down his throat then see if he thinks its acceptable. It is wrong that this person should get away with this if he had done it to a dog he would get time for it
