deadbait wobbling

can this be done with a spinning set up?(on the river) also lures are supposed to be good in summer what are they like in the winter?
ive decided to keep my budget down (incase i dont take to it) and i like to keep busy so just seems a good light way to travel and getting some good sport. but will spinning set ups deal with say 4-6" roach casting?

sorry probably typical newbie questions i cant wait to gain experience and be able to have an input to other peoples threads.

Re: deadbait wobbling

just check on spinning rod its casting weight, but most should cope
or you could use a carp rod to wobble with

the clearer the water for lures the better, and if colder need to work deeper as the fish are less active so need to dump on their nose to arrouse interest

Re: deadbait wobbling

if your going to be doing some lure fishing maybe have a look at getting some side cutters
http://www.johnsonrosstackle.co.uk/i...oducts_id=2240

and for wobbling deadbaits have a look at the new savage gear lipskulls
http://www.harrissportsmail.com/Mode...?ModelID=18377

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ua8iI...layer_embedded
shows u how to use the lipskulls

Re: deadbait wobbling

I find my carp rod best for wobbling larger dead baits.

It gets some cracking results on the River Wye in Wales.

Re: deadbait wobbling

Thanks for the link and info Craigpix. Although I use savage lures, mainly the 4play liplures or low riders, I hadnt really looked into the softplay lures and lipskulls yet, but after watching the video I will definately get some to try out this year.

Re: deadbait wobbling

there soft play lures have a really good action baz t but a little tip i readabout the lipskulls was if there not going down deep enough add a couple of small shot into the lipskul then trap your softplay/deadbait in it will help it become a little more nose heavy :)

Re: deadbait wobbling

Thanks Craigpix, good tip, and I guess it will also help if you want to use a sink and draw action with the lure as well, due to the heavier head.
