| pike trip i was fishing a drain near the A17 Sutterton Lincolnshire after bream and kept being botherd by big pike after 4 hours of pike attacking my keep net and grabbing nearly everything i caught i gave up fishing and was about to go back to the caravan when i saw a huge pike and its tail was easily as thick as a mans arm i went to the local tackle shop at a place called surfleet for more maggots and noticed the photo's on the wall ......hmmmmmmmm the pike are huge in the photographs with loads of 20s & 30s among them , anyway i asked the tackle shop owner where he caught them and he did not want to say but having some local knowledge i recognised a few of the places all free fishing in the drains , so if a couple of you guys want to come and try catch your welcome , just bring your own beer and food ![]() |

It would be a bit like me NOT posting that the Cod or Mackerel had arrived on Chesil. It is an 18 mile stretch of beach. So what do I do? Keep the knowledge to myself, or post it and let interested anglers PM me for more details? There is nothing I hate more on here than an angler that likes to sit in the background and gain all the information on different marks and keep there own little secret marks to them selves. If your mainly sea fishing, then your not paying an annual rod licence & fees to join clubs / fish venues (yet) so the impact is not so obvious One thing's for sure you don't see Poachers & EE's on our waters, that is the point, if you direct them to our fish producing venues then they arrive under cover of darkness with the long lines & nets....result a fishless area in a quick space of time....not good when your paying £150 a year for the privilege of catching now't.... That's my view, you can agree, disagree or be impartial, that's your choice & the intention of a forum ![]() |

| Re: pike trip Ok I will try and reply in plain English 1 - Yes I read & fully understood your original & subsequent posts 2 - You obviously did not fully read & understand my response to yours 3 - I mentioned the cost of fishing as in Licence fee I pay & the cost of club membership / venue fees (which I am happy to do so) 4 - I am not happy to pay for a fishery which is in decline or fishless due to other people highlighting what great catches they have had in a particular area 5 - I accept a lot of the Fens are free fishing & yes there are acres of them but you only have to look at the Broads to see how problems arise which take years to improve 6 - For the sake of commonsense & the preservation of our future Angling it doesn't take much to be a tad careful with what is published to deter those that may benefit from being given a heads up 7 - As I said before it's a forum dedicated to free speech & open debate, if you don't care about the future of our fish stocks that's fine by me, I do...... |
