help pike fishing

i was wondering what is the best way of catching pike on a river
like using lure,deadbait or live bait and where will the pike be

Can be all three methods !

Livebait will always score (or should) I have often had them taken the moment they hit the water (in a weir pool)

If your fishing a nice slack / eddy then a deadbait may sort out the best fish

Plugs / lures are great for roaming and covering water, but don't always work

As always it depends on the colour & pace of the river, tend to find fish on bends, under trees & in the deeper water where it meets a shallow area

At the end of the day it's trial & error until you gain confidence
