 My nephews 1st pike I have got my nephew into fishing after the summer/autum he has been pestering me to go. I dont need an excuse. I was praying that exeter canal would be ice free after the rain and slightly warmer temps. How wrong could i have been!! we walked from lime kilns to whwere the m5 crosses trhe canal. this was the only clear bit of water that there was. We were the only ones mad enough to be fishing. Baits were joeys, lampray, blueys, roach and small trout. After an hour of the baits being in the water i was about to pull one of the rods in when it started to twitch. I was paying line off and said out loud the fish must be on. I have always taught my nephew to be quick to the rods when carp fishing so as i said this he has grabbed the rod and wound in. I was like noooo  the fish was not on.i then pulled another rod in and cst a little further out to the right. after 15mins it was twitching my nephew just stood there and didnt move. After paying off line it start to move left so i told him to strike. After a little batttle and a tail walk by mr pike ha had his 1st pike between 3-6lb we didnt get anyother bites but he didnt care as he has caught his 1st pike tj (will get pic of phone tomorrow)     |

| Re: My nephews 1st pike Well done. Bet he was chuffed with his pike. Think I will delay my trip to Exeter canal this week then, as temp has dropped again, and it will probably still be frozen. |
